About
About Offpeak
Offpeak is the numbers-first guide to charging an electric car at home in the UK.
Most EV charging advice is adjectives. Cheaper, faster, greener, simpler. Offpeak exists because the actual numbers are knowable, and because the difference between a good and a bad charging decision is usually three or four hundred pounds a year. We publish the figures, show the working, and link the primary source for every one.
Editorial standards
Three rules govern every page on this site:
- Every figure is sourced. Prices, grant amounts, tariff rates and statistics are cited to a primary source: gov.uk, Ofgem, energy suppliers' own published rates, or manufacturers' own listed prices. Each article carries a numbered sources list with access dates.
- Every figure is dated. Energy prices move quarterly and tariffs change without notice. We date-stamp rates in the text and record a "last reviewed" date on every article.
- We do not decide eligibility. For grants and regulations we describe the scheme and link the official gov.uk page. The government's own checker is always the authority on whether you qualify.
If you find a figure that has gone stale or a sum that does not add up, tell us via the contact page and we will correct it.
How this site is made, including our use of AI
Offpeak's articles are drafted with the help of AI language tools and are researched against, and cited to, primary published sources at the time of writing. Charts and diagrams are drawn from the cited data rather than taken from stock libraries, and the site carries no stock photography. We publish this openly because we hold the site to the standard that matters: not who typed the sentence, but whether the number in it is right, sourced and dated.
Offpeak is editorially independent. We have no commercial relationships with charger manufacturers, installers or energy suppliers, we carry no affiliate links, and nobody pays for placement in our comparisons.
